At Justice Necessary, we understand the hidden crisis here in Colorado—basic hygiene essentials directly impact health, well-being, and opportunity. As we enter our fifth year, we are reflecting on what this community has made possible and looking ahead to what we can do together next.
Thanks to supporters like you, Justice Necessary has already provided more than 8 million hygiene products to Coloradans in need. And we’re just getting started.
In the year ahead, we are planning to deliver more than 5 million additional hygiene products across Colorado. Every gift—no matter the size—moves us closer to that goal.
Why Your Gift Matters
Hygiene Is Essential—and Excluded
Programs like SNAP and WIC do not cover hygiene products such as toilet paper, soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, diapers, or household cleaners, leaving families without a way to meet basic hygiene needs. For households already making impossible choices, this gap has real consequences.
Justice Necessary is the only statewide organization in Colorado providing access to the full spectrum of hygiene products, including:
- Toilet paper
- Soap and shampoo
- Laundry detergent sheets
- Household cleaners
- Adult and baby diapers
- Razors and oral care items
- Menstrual products

When individuals have the products they need to stay clean, they are healthier, miss fewer days of school or work, and experience greater dignity and stability.

Provide Essential Supplies
Deliver hygiene products to food banks and food pantries, including those serving K–12 schools, colleges and universities, shelters, and communities across Colorado—often in partnership with volunteers. Together, we help ensure that essential hygiene products reach neighbors who otherwise would go without.
Expand Access Statewide
Justice Necessary, through a first-of-its-kind partnership with Food Bank of the Rockies, is offering food pantries the opportunity to become hygiene pantries. Through our Find Your Pantry™ program, pantries can apply for products and tools to expand their services, and those that meet the criteria will receive the Justice Necessary FYP Hygiene Seal. Seal-designated pantries will be easily identifiable on a public map and supported with ongoing product and technical assistance statewide.
Educate & Advocate
SNAP and WIC do not cover essential hygiene products, leaving families without a way to access necessities like soap, diapers, and menstrual products. Justice Necessary educates communities and advocates to raise awareness about this critical gap and its impact on daily life.
Support Schools
Justice Necessary walks alongside Colorado schools to support the implementation of HB24-1164, Free Menstrual Products to Students, by helping schools and school districts meet the law’s required milestones. Last year, we supported 460 schools across the state. Through guidance, tools, and product support, we help turn this policy into practice so students don’t miss out on class time.

Conducted groundbreaking statewide research on period poverty, diaper need, and hygiene access including The 2022 Colorado Study on Women’s Period Poverty, Diaper Need, and Hygiene Poverty, The 2024 Colorado Study on Teen Period Poverty, and The 2024 Colorado Study on Women’s Period Poverty, Diaper Need, and Hygiene Poverty.
Hosted an educational webinar to raise awareness and empower communities to address hygiene poverty.
